UX Research & Business Strategy

I’m at heart an applied anthropologist specializing in cultural research. I pride myself in turning “thick data” into deep human insights and actionable strategies for executives and product teams. However, I am also fluent in mixed-methods and quantitative approaches, having conducted surveys & large-scale RCTs.

As always, the best research method is the right one for the question at hand.

My passion lies in exploring digital behaviors, online communities, and how socio-technological innovations shape culture. Prior clients include Fortune 100 companies in tech and entertainment— such as Instagram, Google, Spotify, and HYBE— as well as social sector organizations like UNICEF and DFAT. I’ve helped teams understand emerging consumers across Asia-Pacific markets, from Japan to China to Indonesia to Vietnam.

Writing

I also moonlight as a writer of fiction and cultural essays.

My cultural essays tend to a little personal, combine the high-brow and low-brow, and revolve around the ways technology has changed how we consume and interact with stories.

Origin Story

I bring to my work an expansive curiosity, a deep empathy, and a flare for storytelling informed by what I’ve done and who I am. In the past, I’ve deployed and evaluated critical education and public health interventions with international nonprofits, and worked the gender & sexuality beat as a journalist. As an immigrant and first-gen college student, I make sure to represent in the room the needs and aspirations of all users.

I hold a B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard University and a M.A. in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University, where I was a Schwarzman Scholar.

When not at work, I can be found reading, watching Broadway musicals, studying Chinese, and eating my way through cities.
